Jamaat Candidate’s Nomination Papers Rejected in Dhaka
The nomination papers of Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Colonel Abdul Haq for Dhaka-2 parliamentary constituency in the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election have been rejected.
The Dhaka District Returning Officer’s office declared the cancellation on Saturday (3 January) morning after scrutiny of nomination papers.
Multiple sources from the Returning Officer’s office confirmed that Colonel Abdul Haq’s nomination was rejected due to allegations of being a loan defaulter.
It is worth mentioning that Jamaat-e-Islami nominated retired armed forces officer Colonel (Retd) Mohammad Abdul Haq, Chairman of the Rawah Club (an association of retired military personnel), as its candidate for the Dhaka-2 seat. In the same constituency, BNP has nominated Amanullah Aman, who was an adviser to the party’s recently deceased Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
