Jamaat candidate withdraws from Cumilla-4, welcomes Hasnat Abdullah in seat-sharing deal
Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Saiful Islam Shahid has withdrawn from the Cumilla-4 (Debidwar) constituency as part of the seat-sharing agreement with the National Citizen Party (NCP).
He announced his decision on his verified Facebook account on Sunday night (28 December).
In his post, he wrote: “Alhamdulillah, I have accepted the decision of the central organisation and stepped aside from the election. May Allah grant me the ability to remain steadfast in the path of establishing Deen until my last breath.”
When asked about his withdrawal, Jamaat-backed parliamentary candidate Saiful Islam Shahid told the media: “I have welcomed the decision of the organisation and withdrawn from the election. I may not be able to fulfil the love and expectations of the people, but if I can remain by the side of the people of Debidwar, I will consider myself fortunate. I pray to the Almighty for the workers that Allah grants them the best reward.”
