The Office of the Chief Adviser has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic killing of factory worker Dipu Chandra Das in Mymensingh and extended its deepest condolences to his bereaved family.

On behalf of the government, Education Adviser Professor C R Abrar visited the grieving family in Mymensingh on Tuesday to convey the government’s sympathy and assure them of support during this difficult period, according to a press release issued by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing.

During the visit, Professor Abrar spoke with Rabilal Das, father of the deceased, among other family members.

The education adviser described the killing as a heinous criminal act that has no justification and no place in Bangladeshi society. He stressed that allegations, rumours or differences of belief can never excuse violence, and no individual has the right to take the law into their own hands.

Professor Abrar reaffirmed the Interim Government’s firm commitment to the rule of law, assuring the family that authorities would conduct a thorough investigation into all alleged offences and ensure justice is served through due process.

Law enforcement agencies have so far arrested 12 individuals in connection with the crime. Investigations are continuing, and the government has directed that the case be pursued fully and without exception, he said.

Such acts of violence will be met with the full force of the law, the adviser added.

The government remains fully committed to ensuring the safety, dignity and equal protection of all citizens, irrespective of religion, ethnicity or background. It calls upon all communities, institutions and leaders to reject violence, resist efforts to create division or unrest, and uphold restraint, humanity and respect for the law, Professor Abrar told the family.

On behalf of the Office of the Chief Adviser, he confirmed that financial and welfare assistance will be provided to the family of Dipu Chandra Das, and the relevant authorities would remain in close contact with them in the coming period.

The adviser reiterated the Interim Government’s resolve to protect every citizen and to ensure that justice prevails.
