Tasnim Jara Hits Election Fundraising Target in Just 29 Hours
National Citizen Party (NCP) senior joint member-secretary Dr Tasnim Jara has received nearly Tk 47 lakh in donations within 29 hours of seeking financial assistance from voters to meet election expenses.
She announced this on her verified Facebook late Tuesday (23 December) night.
Dr Tasnim Jara wrote, our fundraising target of nearly Tk 47 lakh has been met by you in just 29 hours. Your unprecedented response has shaken the roots of old political style. Thank you immensely. We are not accepting any more donations.
She wrote, now the real fight begins. Most candidates will spend Tk 10 to 50 crore in this election. Many say votes can be bought with money. But they have forgotten one thing, we have you with us, who are ready to spend own pocket money with commitment to build new Bangladesh.
She further wrote, calculation is very clear. There are about 5 lakh voters in Dhaka-9 constituency. As a candidate, if I walk 12 hours a day and talk to each family for 5 minutes, I can reach maximum 100-110 families per day. In entire election campaign period, I can go to at most 4000 families. Our message will not reach lakhs of families.
We have come to reject money politics, so we will not appoint paid workers. To win this fight to build new politics, to reach our words to people, role of volunteers is indispensable.
For context, on 22 December night, Dr Tasnim Jara shared a video message on Facebook seeking financial assistance from voters, supporters and well-wishers to meet election expenses while contesting from Dhaka-9 in upcoming national parliament election.
