Former DU Student Names Newborn Son After Osman Hadi
Tawsiful Islam, office secretary of Dhaka University Journalists' Association, has named his son after martyr Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho and one of the key leaders of the 2024 mass uprising. On Saturday (20 December), he named his son after Hadi in a Facebook post. In the post, Tawsif attached a screenshot of conversation with Hadi and a photo of his son.
When asked about this, Tawsif told The Daily Campus, ‘I had a good relationship with Osman Hadi bhai. On 5 December, I asked Hadi bhai for a good name for my son. Perhaps due to busyness, bhai could not suggest any name to me then.’
Tawsif said, ‘Hadi bhai will remain an inspirational name for the next generation. He always wanted to be martyred for the country. Out of respect and love for bhai, I have named my son Hadi.’
He further said, ‘Initially, I had named my son Tashriful Mahtin Ayan. Changing this name, now I have named my son Mahtim Osman Hadi.’
On 12 December afternoon, miscreants shot Sharif Osman Bin Hadi in the head in Box Culvert Road of old Paltan in Dhaka. He was convener of Inqilab Moncho and a potential independent candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency.
Critically injured Osman Hadi was first treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later at Evercare Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was taken to Singapore by air ambulance on 15 December for advanced treatment. He died there while undergoing treatment last Thursday.
