Khaleda Zia stable, doctors hopeful for recovery: Dr Jahid urges prayers, warns against misinformation
Dr A Z M Jahid Hossain, BNP Standing Committee member and personal physician to BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, addressed a press conference outside Evercare Hospital in Bashundhara on Tuesday (2 December) to update on her health.
Dr Jahid, speaking on behalf of the Bangladesh-UK-USA medical board formed for her treatment, said Khaleda Zia is now stable and responding positively to the ongoing medical care.
He noted that Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, and other political leaders remain deeply concerned and are in constant touch with the medical team.
Dr Jahid appealed to the nation: "On behalf of the Zia family and BNP, we request everyone not to pay heed to any misinformation circulating about her condition. Please continue praying for her speedy recovery."
He assured that BNP will provide further updates on her health. Dr Jahid and BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi are the sole authorised spokespersons on this matter.
Replying to a journalist's question, Dr Jahid said the party and family are fully prepared to airlift Khaleda Zia abroad for advanced treatment if needed, but the final decision rests entirely with the medical board.
