Six City Corporations Get New Administrators: Milton in Dhaka North, Abdus Salam in South

The government has appointed new administrators for six city corporations, including Dhaka North and South. According to a gazette notification issued by the Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Ministry on Monday (23 February), the appointments are as follows:
- Dhaka North City Corporation: Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton
- Dhaka South City Corporation: Md. Abdus Salam
- Khulna City Corporation: Nazrul Islam Manju
- Sylhet City Corporation: Abdul Kaiyum Chowdhury
- Narayanganj City Corporation: Md. Sakhawat Hossain Khan
- Gazipur City Corporation: Md. Shawkat Hossain Sarkar
The notification states that under Section 25A(1) of the Local Government (City Corporation) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024, these individuals have been appointed as full-time administrators until the corporations are reconstituted or until further orders. They will exercise the powers and perform the duties of mayors and will receive allowances as per rules.
The order takes immediate effect in the public interest.
