Iran has once again taken full control of the Strait of Hormuz, just hours after opening it to foreign commercial vessels.

The Joint Military Command of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed this in a statement issued on Saturday (18 April).

The statement said: “Control over the Strait of Hormuz has returned to its previous state. The entire waterway is now under the strict management and control of the armed forces, as before.”

Iran accused the United States of continuing “so-called blockade, piracy, and maritime theft” under the guise of sanctions. It warned that the strait will remain under tight military control until the US restores full freedom of navigation for vessels going to and from Iran.
