At least two individuals were injured on Tuesday after a violent confrontation broke out between activists of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) at Government Madrasah-e-Alia in Dhaka over derogatory social media posts targeting Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

The conflict reportedly began around 2:30 PM on Tuesday (August 4) following an altercation involving two Chhatra Shibir members, identified as Ilias and Abdullah Mahi. The clash was triggered by Facebook posts in which the duo allegedly made defamatory remarks about Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, referring to him as "Khamba Tareq" and making other derogatory statements.

The social media posts sparked intense anger among local Chhatra Dal leaders and activists, quickly escalating into a physical scuffle on the campus grounds.

As tension mounted, Chhatra Dal activists took control of the residential halls, forcing Chhatra Shibir members out of their dormitories and padlocking their room doors to seal off the halls.

Shortly after, Chhatra Shibir activists, led by their campus unit president, mobilized around the campus perimeter armed with bamboo sticks and steel pipes, launching counter-chases against Chhatra Dal members.

The situation inside and around the Government Madrasah-e-Alia campus remains highly volatile. Law enforcement personnel have been deployed to the area and are actively attempting to restore order and diffuse ongoing tensions.
