49th BCS: Bushra also left out of final gazette despite ranking 14th in English

Bushra Jahan Aishi, who ranked 14th in English in the final results of the 49th BCS (Special) examination, has also been left out of the final gazette. She said candidates ranked 13th and 15th in English were included in the gazette, but her name was missing.

The gazette, published on Wednesday (September 30), lists 611 appointments, while 668 candidates had earlier been provisionally recommended, leaving 57 names out. After the gazette was published, Bushra shared her reaction in a Facebook post.

“My merit position in English is 14. The gazette has 13 and 15, but not 14. Allah is my witness, neither I nor anyone in my family has ever been involved in politics. I have devoted myself to my studies throughout my life. Still, I leave this question to the state: why have I been deprived of the gazette? Please pray for me. May Allah help me,” she wrote.

Bushra had earlier expressed frustration over the delay in publishing the gazette and completing the appointment process.

In another Facebook post, she said 10 months and 11 days had passed since the BCS results were published, but the gazette and appointment had still not been completed. She also described the financial difficulties she had faced while waiting for the appointment.

She said that despite having secured a good job through the examination, she had become financially dependent on others for relatively small expenses. She recalled feeling uncomfortable taking money from her father after entering university and said she also did not feel comfortable taking money from her life partner.

“The peace of mind, independence and happiness that comes from spending your own money can never be provided by someone else’s money, no matter how close that person is,” she wrote.

Bushra also said she had never imagined that the appointment process for a special BCS examination could take so long. Had she known it would take this long, she said, she might have joined another job by then.

“Allah, free unemployed people like me from this unbearable suffering,” she wrote.
