A powerful rainy spell is heading toward Bangladesh and is expected to remain active for at least 12 days starting from June 18, according to a weather forecast issued by the Bangladesh Weather Observation Team (BWOT). The organization reported on its official Facebook page today, Saturday, that this first monsoon rainy spell of the year is likely to become active across the country between June 18 and June 19.

It is projected to progressively maintain its impact until June 29 or June 30, bringing higher amounts of rainfall to most districts under four specific divisions. The forecast highlights that the rainy spell will remain most active across several districts within the Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet, and Chattogram divisions.

Furthermore, the BWOT stated that since this is a typical monsoon rainy spell, the occurrences of severe storms and lightning are expected to be significantly lower. However, isolated lightning strikes may still occur in some scattered locations due to regular gusty winds and erratic, random wind patterns.
