Intense cold to continue for several more days: Met Office
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast that the ongoing cold spell across the country will persist for several more days. Moderate to dense fog is likely to blanket river basins and other areas from midnight to morning, while mild cold waves currently affecting several districts may continue in places.
The forecast, issued at 6:00 pm on Friday (26 December) for the next 120 hours, indicates no significant change in weather conditions over the next five days.
Day 1 (Saturday, 27 December): Partly cloudy skies with dry weather across the country. Moderate to dense fog is likely in river basins from midnight to morning, with light to moderate fog elsewhere. Mild cold wave continues in Jessore, Chuadanga, Gopalganj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj and Nilphamari districts and may persist in places. Night and day temperatures likely to remain nearly unchanged.
Day 2 (Sunday, 28 December): Dry weather with partly cloudy skies across the country. Moderate to dense fog likely in river basins from midnight to morning, and light to moderate fog elsewhere. Night temperatures likely to remain nearly unchanged while day temperatures may rise slightly.
Day 3 (Monday, 29 December): Dry weather across the country. Fog likely from midnight to morning. Night temperatures nearly unchanged, while day temperatures may fall slightly.
Day 4 (Tuesday, 30 December): Dry weather with partly cloudy skies across the country. Moderate to dense fog likely in river basins from midnight to morning, and light to moderate fog elsewhere. Both night and day temperatures likely to fall slightly.
Day 5 (Wednesday, 31 December): Dry weather across the country. Fog likely to persist from midnight to morning. Night and day temperatures likely to remain nearly unchanged.
The BMD further stated that no significant change in weather is expected in the extended five-day period beyond this forecast.
