Epicentre of Morning's 4.1-Magnitude Quake was in Narsingdi
A mild earthquake was felt across the capital Dhaka and several other areas of the country this morning.
The tremor struck at 6:14:45 am on Thursday (4 December), with residents in Dhaka's Banshree, Sabujbag, Mahakhali and Dhanmondi confirming the shaking to The Daily Campus. Reports also came from Gazipur and Narayanganj.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) and the Bangladesh Earthquake Research Centre, the quake measured 4.1 on the Richter scale with its epicentre in Shibpur, Narsingdi.
This marks the second tremor felt in Dhaka within days. On Monday night (1 December) at 12:55 am, a 4.9-magnitude earthquake originating in Falam, Myanmar (depth 106.8 km) was reported by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), with tremors felt across Dhaka, Barishal, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet divisions.
No casualties or damage have been reported from today’s event.
