BERC Raises Jet Fuel Prices for August: Domestic Rate Climbs to BDT 159.52 Per Liter
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has officially announced an upward revision in jet fuel prices for the month of August, according to a notification issued on Sunday, August 9.
Under the newly adjusted pricing structure, the cost of jet fuel for domestic flights has been raised from BDT 130.99 to BDT 159.52 per liter. Simultaneously, the rate for international flights has been increased from $0.8556 to $1.0358 per liter.
The latest adjustment follows a volatile series of price movements earlier in the year. On March 24, BERC enacted steep hikes of approximately 80 percent for domestic routes and 79 percent for international routes, followed by another upward adjustment on April 7. Prices subsequently saw relief in May, dropping from BDT 227.08 to BDT 205.45 per liter, and further declining in June to BDT 150.21 per liter compared to the previous rate of BDT 165.88.
Aviation sector analysts note that the renewed price adjustment will directly impact operational cost calculations for both domestic and international carriers operating across Bangladeshi airports.
