After nearly 2.5 hours of suspension, metro rail operations restarted on the Uttara-Agargaon-Uttara section by 2:58 pm on Sunday (October 26). However, the Agargaon-Motijheel-Agargaon segment remains closed, confirmed a source from MRT Line-6.

The source said: "Train movement on the Uttara-Motijheel route halted from 12:30 pm due to a bearing pad falling from a pillar. For passenger convenience, the Uttara-Agargaon-Uttara route resumed at 2:58 pm."

Earlier, at around 12:15 pm near Farmgate Metro Station (in front of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute), a 40-50 kg bearing pad dislodged from pillar 433, striking and killing Abul Kalam (35-40, from Ishurkatia village, Nadiya upazila, Shariatpur). The pad then smashed into a nearby betel nut and singara shop, shattering glass and injuring two people inside.

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) suspended all services immediately. A five-member probe committee—headed by Bridges Division Secretary Abdur Rouf, including experts from BUET, MIST, DMTCL, and Road Transport Ministry—formed to investigate within two weeks, checking for technical faults or sabotage.

Road Transport Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan announced Tk 5 lakh compensation to the victim's family and a DMTCL job for an eligible relative. This is the second such incident; a bearing pad fell in Khamarbari on September 18.
