Ninth pay scale to be implemented this year, finance minister says
The ninth national pay scale will be implemented within this year, Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said on Monday, adding that the government needs further discussions before making a final decision.
He made the remarks after a meeting on the Pay Commission at the Ministry of Finance on Monday (August 17). The meeting was chaired by the finance minister.
“There are many aspects to the Pay Commission. We are considering all of them. We discussed the matter today. Further discussion is needed on this issue. We will sit again later,” he told reporters.
Asked about the timeline for implementation, the minister said the new pay scale would be implemented this year. However, he said the government would announce how it plans to address inflation after the new pay scale is announced.
The government has been working toward finalising the ninth national pay scale, with the proposed structure now at an advanced stage of consideration.
