The Bangladesh Government Officers and Employees Welfare Association has requested a direct meeting with the Prime Minister to solve various problems, including the long-standing demand for the implementation of a new pay scale. This information was found in a letter sent to the Prime Minister's Office on Sunday, March 29, signed by the organization's Convener Abdul Malek and Member Secretary Ashikul Islam.

The letter stated that although the country's government officers and employees play an important role in state administration, public service delivery, and policy implementation, their fair demands have not been implemented for a long time. This has created frustration and uncertainty among employees due to the high price of commodities, increased cost of living, deprivation of promotion, and "block post" problems.

The application further mentioned that while two pay scales were supposed to be received in the last 11 years, not even one pay scale has been implemented so far. In this situation, it is claimed that low-paid employees are living an inhumane life. The organization has raised a 10-point demand:

  1. Immediate implementation of the 9th Pay Scale.

  2. Reinstatement of Time Scale and Selection Grade including service benefits.

  3. Facilitating the path of promotion by solving the block post problem.

  4. Increasing the health and financial security of officers, employees, and their families.

  5. Increasing the skill and mental welfare of officers and employees.

  6. Removing unwanted posting and promotion barriers by ensuring transparency.

  7. Integrated Grievance Redressal System: Fast and effective measures to solve problems.

  8. Ensuring daily life and food security of citizens and officers-employees.

  9. Training and Development Program: Increasing the skill and mental welfare of officers and employees.

  10. Transfer and Posting Policy: Ensuring transparency and removing unwanted posting and promotion barriers.

The application stated that if the fair rights and welfare of government employees can be ensured, the efficiency and morale of the administration will increase further. For this reason, an opportunity has been sought to meet the Prime Minister through a 13-member representative team so that they can directly present their demands and the actual situation.
