Mostaqur Rahman Appointed as Bangladesh Bank Governor

The government has appointed Md. Mostaqur Rahman as the new Governor of Bangladesh Bank, replacing Ahsan H Mansur.

A gazette notification was issued by the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday (24 February).

Mostaqur Rahman, who was recently serving as Additional Director of the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), was promoted to Director and transferred to the Department of Off-Site Supervision at Bangladesh Bank on Saturday (22 February), according to an order signed by Additional Director Golam Mohiuddin.

The order states that the promotion and transfer are effective from the date of issuance, subject to the conditions of the 2022 promotion policy for 9th grade and above positions.

A graduate of Dhaka University’s Finance Department with BBA and MBA degrees, Mostaqur Rahman joined Bangladesh Bank as Assistant Director in 1999. He has worked in the Foreign Exchange Reserve and Treasury Management Department (FRTMD), Financial Integrity and Customer Service Department (FICSD), and most recently as Additional Director at BFIU.

He hails from Deyara village in Digholia upazila of Khulna district.
