RAB Seizes 2,300 Yaba Pills from Smuggler's Stomach in Gopalganj

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a suspected drug trafficker in Kashiani, Gopalganj, after recovering 2,300 Yaba tablets concealed inside his stomach following an X-ray examination and a subsequent medical procedure.

The detainee, identified as 33-year-old Md. Aminul Islam (alias Raju), was intercepted at around 9:30 AM on Sunday (August 2) at the Bhatiapara intersection in Kashiani Upazila. The operation was carried out jointly by RAB-6 Headquarters Company (Bhatiapara Camp) and RAB-10 CPC-3 Faridpur, who set up a temporary checkpoint to inspect a Khulna-bound 'Dola Paribahan' passenger bus.

Medical Verification at Kashiani Health Complex

During preliminary interrogation on the bus, Aminul confessed that he was transporting the narcotics from Teknaf in Cox's Bazar to Khulna via Dhaka after swallowing the 2,300 Yaba pills using a specialized technique.

Law enforcement personnel subsequently transported the suspect to the Kashiani Upazila Health Complex in the presence of the bus driver, supervisor, and fellow passengers. An abdominal X-ray examination conducted on a attending physician's recommendation confirmed the presence of foreign packets inside his stomach. Under medical supervision and prescribed treatment, the suspect naturally expelled the swallowed Yaba tablets within a short time, which were then formally seized before witnesses.

Police Action and Ongoing Network Probe

Additional Superintendent of Police S M Rezaul Haque, Company Commander of RAB-6 Bhatiapara Camp, confirmed that both the detainee and the recovered contraband have been formally handed over to Kashiani Police Station for legal proceedings.

"An investigation is currently underway to track down other members of this drug trafficking syndicate," said SM Rezaul Haque. He reaffirmed that regular anti-narcotics operations are being conducted under the government's zero-tolerance policy, adding that law enforcement will maintain strict intelligence surveillance regardless of the concealment methods employed by smugglers.
