Satkhira AL General Secretary Arrested in Dhaka
The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested Md. Nazrul Islam, general secretary of the Satkhira district unit of Awami League, from his residence in the capital's Bashundhara Residential Area on Monday (July 27).
Additional Commissioner of Police (DB) Md. Shafiqul Islam confirmed the arrest, stating that a DB team conducted a drive at Nazrul's home around 12:00 PM and took him into custody.
"Nazrul Islam is accused in multiple pending cases, and he has been arrested in connection with these charges," the DB chief said, adding that necessary legal procedures against him are currently in progress.
DMP Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Niaz Mehedi also confirmed the development to The Daily Campus.
Nazrul Islam previously served as the general secretary of the Satkhira district Awami League. He is also a former two-time chairman of the Satkhira District Council and previously served one term as its administrator.
