Police have officially arrested Md. Zisan Ahmed Pradhan, a central leader of Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir, in a case filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. The case, filed by a young woman, brings serious allegations against him, including rape under the pretext of marriage and forced abortion.

The Daudkandi Thana Police confirmed the arrest today, Saturday. The arrested official serves as the Assistant International Affairs Secretary of the central committee of Chhatrashibir and is a former president of the organization's Cumilla District West wing.

Daudkandi Model Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Abdul Bari stated that a woman filed the lawsuit directly accusing Zisan. Following the registration of the case, police formally placed him under arrest, and he remains under medical custody.

Arrest Follows High-Profile Disappearance and Hospitalization

The legal development comes immediately after a highly publicized missing incident involving the student leader. Zisan had gone missing after performing Isha prayers at the Daudkandi Model Mosque on Thursday night, prompting Chhatrashibir's central leadership to issue press statements expressing deep concerns over a potential abduction and demanding his immediate rescue.

Following a 26-hour search, local residents discovered Zisan lying unconscious near the Laksam Railway Junction Club ground on Friday night. He was initially rushed to Laksam General Hospital and subsequently shifted to Cumilla Medical College Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment under police guard.

Conflicting Claims Over Abduction and Case Legitimacy

The incident has triggered sharply conflicting narratives between law enforcement and the political organization. While undergoing medical treatment, Zisan claimed that a group of unidentified men forcefully dragged him into a microbus from the front of the Daudkandi Model Mosque before he lost consciousness.

Conversely, law enforcement authorities have downplayed the kidnapping narrative. Cumilla Superintendent of Police Md. Anisuzzaman stated that the missing leader was safely rescued by the Laksam Crossing Thana Police and was not abducted. He confirmed that the victim filed the criminal case detailing the allegations of rape and forced termination of pregnancy on Friday night immediately after Zisan's location was traced.
