Woman Allegedly Gang-Raped by Five Drunk Friends

A young woman was dynamic in seeking help after being subjected to a gang assault by five individuals, who were her acquaintances, in the Fullbari Dakshinpara area of Bogura metropolis on Sunday (May 17) night. Following the incident, law enforcement officials acted swiftly to arrest three of the accused youths after a criminal case was formally initiated.

The victim, originally hailing from Shivganj Upazila of Bogura, filed a formal case naming five individuals at the Bogura Sadar Police Station on Monday (May 18) morning. Promptly launching an operational raid, the police apprehended three suspects, identified as Md. Kawsar, 19, son of Rayhan from Fullbari Dakshin Hajipara; Badhon Paikar, 19, son of the late Hatem Ali Paikar from Fullbari Dakshinpara; and Md. Roki, 19, son of Golam Rabbani from the Uttar Katnarpara area.

According to police and case statements, the victim had an established acquaintance with the accused individuals. The sequence of events began around 8:00 PM on Sunday when the young woman went to a recreation outlet named Luck Zone on the seventh level of Police Plaza in the metropolis, where Kawsar, Badhon, Sadique, and another companion were already present.

The group collectively planned to consume alcohol and procured it from a local hotel before moving to an under-construction building near the Shmashan Ghat road adjacent to the Fullbari Dakshinpara Eidgah field at around 10:15 PM, where another associate named Rony joined them.

During the gathering, the accused individuals took turns assaulting the young woman after consuming the alcohol. Later, when the accused Badhon was escorting her out of the area and reached the Big Bazar area in Shibbati, the victim started screaming for assistance from pedestrians, prompting Badhon to flee the spot. Upon receiving information, a team from the Fullbari Police Outpost rushed to the scene, rescued the victim, and immediately arranged for her necessary medical care.

Bogura Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ibrahim Ali confirmed that the victim filed the case against five individuals on Monday morning and that three suspects were subsequently arrested from various locations during coordinated police raids. The Officer-in-Charge further stated that the arrested individuals have been sent to jail through the court system, efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining fugitives, and the victim has been sent to a local hospital for a mandatory medical examination.
