Five Family Members Found Slaughtered in Kapasia; Household Head Missing

A horrific massacre has shaken the quiet village of Rautkona in Kapasia upazila, where five members of the same family were found with their throats slit early Saturday (May 9). Police suspect the head of the household, Forkan Mia, committed the murders before fleeing the scene.

The victims include Forkan's wife, their three minor children, and his brother-in-law. The discovery was made at dawn when neighbors noticed the door to Forkan’s residence ajar and found the bodies lying in a pool of blood on the floor.

According to local sources, the victims were identified as the wife of a migrant worker (identified in some reports as Monir, though local police reference Forkan as the primary suspect), their three young daughters, and a brother-in-law. The bodies were discovered around 6:00 AM, sending shockwaves through the neighborhood.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kapasia Police Station, Mohammad Shahinur Alam, confirmed the incident, stating that the nature of the killings suggests a premeditated act.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Kapasia-Kaliganj Circle), Asaduzzaman, visited the spot and noted that the motive behind the killings remains unclear. While some initial reports suggested the family were tenants originally from Gopalganj, police are currently verifying all residential details and personal histories.

Forensic teams and CID units have cordoned off the house to collect evidence. The bodies have been sent to the Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

A massive manhunt is currently underway to apprehend Forkan Mia. The brutal nature of the crime—specifically the targeting of three innocent children—has left the local community in a state of mourning and terror. Police have urged the public to provide any information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts.
