Government Sends 13 Police DIGs and Additional DIGs into Mandatory Retirement

The government has sent 13 high-ranking officials of the Bangladesh Police, holding the ranks of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Additional DIG, into mandatory retirement. The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a gazette notification regarding this on Wednesday (April 22).

The notification was issued by the Police-1 Branch of the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, by order of the President. Signed by Senior Secretary Md. Mahbubur Rashid, the directive states that these officers have been retired from service in accordance with the provisions of Section 45 of the Public Service Act, 2018.

The officials sent into mandatory retirement are:

  • Dr. A.F.M. Masum Rabbani, DIG, Police Staff College, Dhaka

  • Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Additional DIG, Tourist Police

  • Md. Ashrafuzzaman, Commandant, PTC Rangpur

  • A.Z.M. Nafiuul Islam, DIG, Anti-Terrorism Unit

  • Mohammad Abul Fayez, DIG, River Police

  • Md. Monirul Islam, DIG, Anti-Terrorism Unit

  • Mahfuzur Rahman, DIG, Police Headquarters

  • Md. Munibur Rahman, DIG, APBn Headquarters

  • Md. Iqbal Hossain, Additional DIG, attached to Rangpur Range DIG Office

  • Shamima Begum, DIG, Police Headquarters

  • Md. Abu Kalam Siddique, DIG, Industrial Police

  • Md. Aminul Islam, DIG, Police Telecom

  • Salma Begum, DIG, APBn

The notification further mentions that the officials sent into mandatory retirement will receive retirement benefits as per the existing rules.
