Former Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury Granted Bail
The court has granted bail to former Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in a case of attempted murder filed at Lalbagh Police Station in Dhaka.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mehdi Hasan passed the order on Sunday (12 April) after hearing the matter.
State prosecutor Omar Faruk Faruqi confirmed the development to The Daily Campus.
According to court sources, Shirin Sharmin was not produced in court today. Her lawyers appeared on her behalf during the hearing.
She was arrested by Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) from a residence in Dhanmondi around 4:30 AM on Tuesday (7 April). She was later produced before the court and sent to jail after her remand and bail petitions were rejected in the same case.
The case relates to alleged attempted murder and vandalism during the anti-discrimination movement.
