Parliament has passed a law banning the activities of the Awami League by turning the ordinance issued during the interim government into an Act.
The bill was passed on Wednesday (8 April) during the first session of the Jatiya Sangsad through a voice vote, with “Yes” winning overwhelmingly. The decision was taken under the chairmanship of the Speaker with spontaneous participation of the members. This law formally prohibits all activities of the Awami League, which was ousted from power.
