Remand and Bail Rejected: Former Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury Sent to Jail

Former Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury has been sent to prison in a case of attempted murder filed at Lalbagh Police Station in the capital.
She was produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court in Dhaka on Tuesday (7 April) at around 1:55 PM. After a hearing on her remand and bail plea, the court rejected both and ordered her to be sent to jail.
Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury was arrested early Tuesday morning from a residence in Dhanmondi. She was later taken to the Detective Branch (DB) office and produced before the court.
This case is related to the anti-discrimination student movement. She faces multiple other cases linked to the July mass uprising.
