Gov’t Officer Arrested in Rape Case After Calling Woman to Office on Holiday

A government livestock officer in Hakimpur, Dinajpur, has been arrested on charges of raping a woman after calling her to his office on a weekly holiday.

The incident occurred on Friday (April 3) morning at the Upazila Livestock Office. The victim, a 26-year-old woman and mother of two who runs a cattle farm, filed a case at Hakimpur Police Station. The accused officer was arrested from the Hili Bus Stand area on Friday night.

According to the complaint and police sources, the woman had a prior acquaintance with the officer. On Friday morning around 9:30 am, he called her and asked her to come to his office for a chat. Once she arrived, he allegedly locked the door of his room and raped her.

The victim filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act on Friday night. Police immediately launched a drive and arrested the officer from Hili Bus Stand.

Local sources claim that the accused officer had faced similar allegations of sexual misconduct and scandals involving women in the past.

Hakimpur Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mostafizur Rahman said the livestock officer was arrested in connection with the rape case. The victim has been sent to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital for medical examination. The accused will be produced before the Dinajpur court on Saturday (April 4) afternoon.
