DU Student Attacked by Banned Chhatra League Members

A student of Dhaka University (DU) was reportedly attacked by members of the banned organization Chhatra League on Monday night. The incident occurred around 11:00 PM during a musical program at Gopalpur village in the Sreerampur Union of Nabinagar, Brahmanbaria.

The victim has been identified as Naimur Rahman Rhythm, a 2022-23 academic session student of the Arabic Department and a resident of the university's Poet Jasimuddin Hall. The alleged attackers are reportedly affiliated with the Sreerampur Union unit of the Chhatra League.

Recounting the ordeal, Naimur Rahman Rhythm stated that a group of individuals suddenly launched an assault on him during the village concert. He identified the attackers as local leaders of the Union Chhatra League who frequently engage in drug abuse in the area. Rhythm claimed that the individuals were in an intoxicated state when they carried out the attack.

The victim further confirmed that he has reported the matter to the local police, who arrived at the scene shortly after the incident was reported.
