Teen Girl Abducted, Raped, and Killed After Grandmother's Murder in Pabna

In a horrific incident in Pabna's Ishwardi upazila, a grandmother was murdered, and her teenage granddaughter was abducted from their home during the night. The girl's body was later found naked in a mustard field. The incident occurred sometime late on Saturday (28 February) in Bhabanipur Uttorpara village under Dashuria union.

Relatives allege that intruders entered the house deep at night, brutally hacked the grandmother to death, and abducted the 15-year-old granddaughter, who was raped and then killed.

Ishwardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mominuzzaman confirmed the incident to The Daily Campus. The victims are Sufia Khatun (65), wife of Najimuddin from Bhabanipur Uttorpara village, and her granddaughter Jamila Akter (15).

Family sources said locals heard cries late at night and came out but returned home when the sounds stopped. In the morning, Sufia's blood-soaked body was found in the courtyard. During the search for Jamila, her naked body was discovered in a nearby mustard field.

A close relative, Sohel Rana, said: “Last night, they came to rape the girl. But when the grandmother noticed, they killed her. Then they abducted the girl to the mustard field, raped her, and killed her.” He demanded the swift arrest and prosecution of those involved in this heinous crime.

Police's initial assessment is that the grandmother was killed when she tried to resist the abduction of her granddaughter. The girl was raped and murdered before her body was dumped in the mustard field.

OC Md. Mominuzzaman said: “We recovered both bodies in the morning after getting information. We are investigating who killed them and why. We are checking if the granddaughter was raped before murder. The bodies will be sent to Pabna General Hospital morgue for autopsy.”

Confirming the incident, Ishwardi Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Pranab Kumar told The Daily Campus: “We went to the spot after getting information. The teenager's body was recovered naked, and the grandmother's from the house. Several police teams are investigating. Legal action will follow based on the probe.”

Earlier, on Thursday afternoon (26 February), a 15-year-old girl's body was recovered from a mustard field between Bilpara and Darikandi in Mahishashura union under Madhabdi thana in Narsingdi Sadar upazila. It was alleged that she was abducted and killed after demanding justice for a rape.

In that case, the girl's mother filed a case at Madhabdi police station on Thursday night naming nine people and 2-3 unknown, making them accused. Most of the main accused have already been arrested.
