Prime Minister Tarique Rahman Holds Office at Armed Forces Division for First Time
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited the Prime Minister's Office at the Armed Forces Division (AFD) in Dhaka Cantonment for the first time on Monday (23 February 2026), arriving at 9:00 am. This marked his first official working day at the AFD facility.
Upon arrival, he was warmly welcomed by the chiefs of the three armed services: Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan. The Prime Minister exchanged greetings with the service chiefs.
During the visit, PM Tarique personally pinned new rank badges on two promoted army officers:
- Lieutenant General Mir Mushfiqur Rahman, who assumed charge as Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division.
- Major General Kaiser Rashid Chowdhury.
Lieutenant General Mir Mushfiqur Rahman was commissioned into the Corps of Infantry on 21 June 1991. His distinguished career includes key roles such as GOC of 24 Infantry Division, Military Secretary, and Director General of the Directorate General Defence Purchase (DGDP).
The event underscores growing coordination between the civilian government and military leadership under the new administration.
