Coordinated Assault Leaves SAD Movement Coordinator in Critical Condition
In Mohammadpur, Dhaka, unidentified assailants wearing burqas attacked and seriously injured Ibrahim, a coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, by stabbing him repeatedly. The incident occurred around 9:00 pm on Sunday (22 February) at a tea stall on the slope beside Mayur Bhaban near Mohammadpur Bus Stand.
Eyewitnesses and local social activist Arif Ahmed reported that Ibrahim was sitting and drinking tea at a tea stall near Boat Ghat Gali beside Mayur Bhaban slope when 3-4 assailants arrived in a CNG-run auto-rickshaw. Wearing burqas, they carried sharp domestic weapons and launched a sudden attack targeting Ibrahim.
They indiscriminately stabbed him, nearly severing one of his elbows. After the assault, the attackers fled quickly on foot. Due to the burqas, their identities could not be determined. Locals rescued Ibrahim and rushed him to a hospital.
Mohammadpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mesbah Uddin said: “We received the news of the incident and immediately sent police to the scene. Our team is working to identify and arrest those involved. We hope to bring them under the law very soon.”
