Inspector General of Police Baharul Alam said the Election Commission will suspend polling for an entire constituency, not only a single center, if mob attempts occur during the 13th national election. He spoke at a law and order briefing on Tuesday, 10 February.

He said full preparations are in place, with three-tier security: center teams, mobile teams, and strike forces to handle emergencies. Police officers who served in past controversial elections have been kept off duty; he pledged neutral policing.

Deployment and security tech:

  • 187,603 police on duty, plus Army, Navy, and Ansar support.
  • 27,995 licensed firearms have been deposited.
  • CCTV installed at about 90% of centers; risky centers will also have body-worn cameras and drones.

Violence tally since schedule announcement:
From 11 December to 9 February, 317 violent incidents occurred, leaving 5 people dead and at least 603 injured.

Alam said the election is a chance for police to restore public trust and he expects to deliver a good election.
