Army Labels Two Dhaka Constituencies as ‘High Risk’
Bangladesh Army has designated two Dhaka constituencies as “higher risk” for the upcoming 13th National Parliament election. Speaking at Mirpur Indoor Stadium on Saturday, 7 February, Mirpur Camp Commander Lt Col S M Fuad Masroor said 18% of polling centres in Dhaka‑14, Dhaka‑16, and Dhaka‑18 are risky, with Dhaka‑14 and Dhaka‑16 the most at risk.
He said the army is alert to ensure voters can come and go safely. Centres have been classified as higher, medium, or normal risk, and measures are being taken accordingly.
Addressing journalists, he urged professional coverage during the polls and cautioned against spreading unverified disorder or sabotage claims. He said the army will provide security to candidates and media workers, and asked reporters to inform law enforcement if they feel unsafe.
