50kg of Indian Cannabis Seized Near Border in Habiganj
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered 50 kilograms of Indian cannabis during an operation in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj on Sunday (4 January).
The seizure took place around 3:45 pm when a patrol team from the Sarail Battalion (25 BGB), Harashpur Border Outpost (BOP), conducted an operation about 200 yards inside the border near Pillar 2000/MP in the Rajendrapur area.
The estimated market value of the abandoned cannabis is Tk 1.75 lakh. The recovered narcotics have been handed over to the Department of Narcotics Control in Habiganj.
Lieutenant Colonel Jabbar Ahmed, Commanding Officer of Sarail Battalion, said: “Legal procedures are underway, and the cannabis is being stored at battalion headquarters for destruction. Such operations to curb smuggling and drug trafficking in border areas will continue regularly.”
