Five Bangladeshi nationals have reportedly been arrested by West Bengal’s Special Task Force (STF) in India for allegedly assisting prime suspect Faisal Karim Masud and his accomplice Alamgir Sheikh in fleeing across the border after the murder of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson martyr Sharif Osman Hadi.

Europe-based journalist and political activist Zulkarnain Saer made the claim in a post on his personal Facebook account on the dawn of Monday (29 December). He cited reliable sources as saying the arrests took place on 28 December.

According to the post, the arrested individuals are:

  • Md Masudur Rahman Biplob (personal assistant to Awami League leader Jahangir Kabir Nanak)
  • Taizul Islam Chowdhury alias Bappi (former councillor and Jubo League leader)
  • Rakibul Islam (Mirpur area Chhatra League leader)

  • Philips (involved in human trafficking in border areas)

The post further states that an intensive operation is currently underway to arrest Faisal Karim Masud and Alamgir Sheikh, who are directly involved in Hadi’s murder. Sources said the crackdown has been intensified in border-adjacent areas.
