Rashed Khan submits resignation after expulsion from Gono Odhikar Parishad

Md Rashed Khan, who was expelled from Gono Odhikar Parishad late Friday night, submitted his resignation letter from the post of central general secretary on Saturday (27 December).

The resignation letter, signed by Rashed Khan, was sent to the media. In the letter, he wrote:

“Please accept my salaam and best wishes. As a comrade on the streets of struggle, I have engaged in movement, struggle and politics with you since the 2018 quota reform movement. If anyone, including you and your comrades, has been hurt by my conduct or statements during this journey, I seek forgiveness from all.

“I thank you for approving my resignation from the post of general secretary. Wherever I remain, our relationship will stay sweet and bound by brotherhood. I seek your prayers and love. Due to personal reasons, I am resigning from the post of general secretary of the party with effect from today. I extend my best wishes to you and the party.

“Finally, my greetings, prayers and love to all in the party.”

Earlier, on Friday (26 December) around 10:45 pm, a press release signed by the party’s office secretary Shakil Uzzaman announced Rashed Khan’s expulsion from Gono Odhikar Parishad.

The release stated: “In accordance with the decision of the higher council of Gono Odhikar Parishad, central general secretary Rashed Khan has been expelled from the organisation due to clear evidence of involvement in activities contrary to party discipline.”

It is learnt that Muhammad Rashed Khan has resigned from the central general secretary post of Gono Odhikar Parishad and is joining BNP. He will contest the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election as a candidate of the sheaf of paddy symbol after taking primary membership of the party. Around 8:00 pm today, higher council member and media coordinator Abu Hanif confirmed the matter to The Daily Campus.
