James Concert Cancelled After Attack at Faridpur Zilla School Anniversary Event
The music concert of renowned singer James, scheduled as the concluding event of the 185th anniversary celebration of Faridpur Zilla School, was disrupted and subsequently cancelled following an attack by locals.
The incident took place moments before the concert was set to begin, when outsiders attempted to enter the venue but were denied access. They then hurled bricks and stones, trying to seize control of the stage. Later, students of Zilla School resisted, forcing the attackers to retreat.
Around 10:00 pm, Convener of the organising committee Mustafizur Rahman Shamim informed the media that the concert was cancelled on the instructions of the Faridpur Deputy Commissioner.
Rajibul Hasan Khan, convener of the publicity and media sub-committee, told the media: “We had completed all preparations to make James’s concert a success. But we still do not understand why this attack happened, what the reason was, or who was behind it.”
He further said that at least 15 to 20 students of Faridpur Zilla School were injured by brickbats during the incident.
