94,000 Army, Navy, Air Force Personnel to Secure February Elections

Around 94,000 members from the army, navy, and air force will be mobilized nationwide to maintain law and order during the 13th national parliamentary elections expected in early February.

Of these, 90,000 are army personnel, 2,500 navy personnel, and 1,500 air force personnel, with at least one army company stationed in each upazila.

The decision was shared during a meeting on Saturday evening between Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus and the three service chiefs at the state guest house Jamuna. The chiefs briefed the Chief Adviser on their operational plans for the polls.

Chief Adviser’s Assistant Press Secretary Suchismita Tithi announced the details late Saturday night.

The meeting occurred at 7:00pm, where Army Chief Gen Waker-uz-Zaman, Navy Chief Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hasan, and Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan assured the Chief Adviser of full preparedness by the armed forces to ensure peaceful elections.
