Sarjis Alam, chief organizer of the National Citizen Party's northern region, congratulated former captain Bulbul for taking charge as Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president and commended his initiative to set up divisional offices.

However, Sarjis expressed deep concern and anger over excluding Rangpur Division from the plan.

In a statement on his social media Thursday afternoon, Sarjis said, “Congratulations, Bulbul bhai, on assuming BCB presidency. Thank you for promptly launching divisional offices. But excluding Rangpur Division from the remaining seven has hurt us.”

He added, “Rangpur has eight districts—a self-sufficient division. Subordinating it to another is regrettable for its cricketers and stakeholders. Rangpur lags in cricket facilities without even a decent ground, let alone an international one.”

Sarjis appealed to Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud, BCB President Bulbul, and policymakers: “Just like the other seven, Rangpur must have a BCB divisional office. Urgently build multiple quality grounds and at least one for international matches.”

He warned, “We'll monitor every step. No need for extras, but denying Rangpur its due won't be accepted by its people.”
