On 20 November 2025 in Mirpur, Bangladesh’s veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim etched his name into cricketing folklore by scoring 106 in his 100th Test match. Resuming the morning on 99*, he reached his century quickly, becoming only the 11th player in Test history to score a hundred in their 100th appearance. He is also the first Bangladeshi to play 100 Tests — and now the first from the country to mark the landmark with a century.

The Eleven

Before Mushfiqur, only ten players had achieved this rare feat:
Colin Cowdrey (England) inaugurated the club in 1968, followed by Javed Miandad (Pakistan) in 1989 and Gordon Greenidge (West Indies) in 1990. Alec Stewart (England) joined in 2000, and Inzamam-ul-Haq (Pakistan) added his imposing 184 in 2005. Ricky Ponting (Australia) famously produced centuries in both innings in 2006. Graeme Smith (South Africa) (2012), Hashim Amla (South Africa) (2017), Joe Root (England) (a monumental 218 in 2021), and David Warner (Australia) (a double hundred in 2022) completed the list — until Mushfiqur.

England leads with three players (Cowdrey, Stewart, Root). Australia, Pakistan and South Africa each have two (Ponting–Warner; Miandad–Inzamam; Smith–Amla), while the West Indies have one (Greenidge). Mushfiqur now becomes Bangladesh’s first representative — and the first Bangladeshi ever to pair his 100th Test with a century. Cowdrey remains the inaugural member of the club, while Mushfiqur marks a national milestone.

Standout Records in This Exclusive Group

Several achievements within this club remain unmatched:

  • Colin Cowdrey is the first cricketer to score a ton in his 100th test back in 1968.
  • Ricky Ponting is still the only player to score two centuries in his 100th Test.

  • Joe Root’s 218 is the highest individual score recorded in a 100th Test, and the first double century at the landmark.

  • David Warner followed with a double ton of his own in 2022.

  • Inzamam-ul-Haq’s 184 stands as the most dominant Asian innings in a 100th Test.

Completing 100 Tests signals endurance, discipline, and long-term excellence. Scoring a century under that pressure elevates the achievement into a realm reached by only a handful of players in more than a century of Test cricket.
For Mushfiqur Rahim, the innings of 106 is both a personal landmark and a defining moment for Bangladesh cricket — a veteran marking his loyalty and longevity with a milestone only ten others had managed before him.
