Science Stream Leads in HSC Pass Rates, Humanities Sees Highest Failures

The results of the 2025 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations were announced on Wednesday, October 16, at 10:00am by Professor Dr. Khandaker Ehsanul Kabir, Chairman of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and Dhaka Education Board. The overall pass rate across 11 education boards is 58.83%, with 7,26,960 out of 12,51,111 examinees passing and 69,097 achieving GPA-5.
Stream-wise Performance:
- Science: Out of 10,47,242 examinees (1,28,100 boys, 1,34,059 girls), 99,296 boys (77.51% pass rate) and 1,07,077 girls (79.87% pass rate) passed, making it the highest-performing stream.
- Humanities: Out of 6,06,282 examinees (2,62,582 boys, 3,43,700 girls), 1,06,463 boys (40.54% pass rate) and 1,85,949 girls (54.10% pass rate) passed, recording the highest failure rate.
- Business Studies: Out of 1,78,801 examinees (98,405 boys, 80,396 girls), 49,407 boys (50.22% pass rate) and 49,964 girls (62.15% pass rate) passed.
National Overview: Of 12,51,111 examinees, 6,11,447 boys participated, with 3,33,864 passing (54.60% pass rate) and 32,053 securing GPA-5. Meanwhile, 6,24,215 girls appeared, with 3,93,096 passing (62.97% pass rate) and 69,097 achieving GPA-5. A total of 9,197 institutions participated, with 202 recording zero passes (up from 65 in 2024) and 345 achieving a 100% pass rate (down from 1,338 in 2024).
Students can access results from their institutions or online. Written exams ended on August 19, with practicals from August 21 to 31, and results were published within 60 days, as per tradition.
How to Check Results:
- Visit www.dhakaeducationboard.gov.bd, click Result corner, enter institution’s EIIN to download the institution-based result sheet.
- Go to www.educationboardresults.gov.bd, enter roll and registration numbers to download the result sheet.
- Via SMS: Type HSC <Board name (first 3 letters)> <Roll> <Year> and send to 16222. Example: HSC Dha 123456 2025 to 16222.
Re-scrutiny applications start on October 17 and can be submitted via www.rescrutiny.eduboardresults.gov.bd until October 23. Details will be available on board websites and in newspapers.
