Dhaka College students block Science Lab intersection

Students of Dhaka College have blocked the crucial Science Lab intersection in the capital since 10:30am on Sunday. They launched the blockade to demand the continuation of intermediate education at the college.

A Dhaka College student said, “Our demand is about preserving Dhaka College’s identity. Dhaka College will remain as it is until the end of time. We’ve reviewed the draft proposal for a central university and consulted various stakeholders, including prominent figures associated with the college’s 184-year history. We’ve even spoken to lawyers at the Supreme Court. They said if this ordinance turns Dhaka College into a university, intermediate education may continue for five or ten years, but it won’t last forever. However, Dhaka College’s legacy began with intermediate education, and it will continue with it until eternity.”

The student added, “Our sole demand is clear. Some groups are trying to dissolve intermediate education at Dhaka College through this university model. We want to break that plan. We won’t let intermediate education be erased. It exists and will continue to exist. Those who want this university model can pursue it, but Dhaka College won’t be its address.”
