The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee will not issue a notice on Monday regarding the publication of this year's Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examination results, despite an earlier plan to do so. The decision was reportedly postponed because the committee has yet to inform Prime Minister Tarique Rahman about the results.

A meeting of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee was held at the Ministry of Education on Monday, October 26. Chairpersons of the nine education boards and Professor Dr Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel, director general of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE), attended the meeting.

According to four officials who attended the meeting, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has not yet been briefed on the publication of this year's HSC and equivalent examination results. The briefing could not take place because the prime minister is currently abroad on a state visit. The results are expected to be brought to his attention either on Monday night, Bangladesh time, or on Tuesday morning.

Sources said that, after obtaining verbal approval from the prime minister, the committee plans to issue a press release on Tuesday detailing the publication of the results. If approval is not granted for any reason, the authorities will discuss the matter further and decide on the next course of action.

A senior government official who attended the meeting told The Daily Campus on condition of anonymity, “The prime minister will be briefed on the publication of the results as soon as possible. We hope he will approve the publication. Once permission is received, the notice on the results will be published on the board's website.”

Earlier, in a notice signed by Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee President and Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Chairman Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman on Saturday night, October 24, the committee announced that the results of the 2026 HSC and equivalent examinations would be published on Thursday, October 29. The notice also said detailed information about the results would be provided through a press release on Monday, October 26.

Speaking to The Daily Campus, Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman said the HSC results would be published on Thursday and that the decision had been finalised. He added that the decision was taken after discussions with Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon.

The HSC and equivalent examinations began on July 2 this year. Written examinations were scheduled to end on August 8, but some examinations under the Chattogram Education Board could not be held as scheduled due to natural disasters. After the postponed examinations were held, the board completed its written examinations on September 9.

A total of 1,270,583 regular and irregular candidates appeared in this year's HSC and equivalent examinations.
