No Admission Test for XI Class: SSC Results to Determine College Admissions

Admissions to eleventh-grade (Class 11) for the upcoming academic session will once again be conducted based on Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examination results, retaining the existing centralized online application system.

The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee has formally submitted a draft policy outlining the admission process to the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education. Speaking on Monday (August 3) afternoon, Professor Syed Akhteruzzaman, Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board and President of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, confirmed that no major procedural changes are being introduced for the current admission cycle.

The policy submission comes ahead of the official publication of SSC and equivalent exam results, which are scheduled to be released on August 10. The result release was originally set for July 20 but was deferred to provide education boards with sufficient time to complete evaluation and processing procedures.

While general colleges and madrasas nationwide will process admissions centrally based on merit and choice preferences, church-run institutions—including Notre Dame College and Holy Cross College—will hold separate entry examinations as per existing court directives.

Educational data indicates that secondary institutions nationwide hold adequate capacity to accommodate all passing students. Higher secondary colleges and madrasas across the country currently offer over 2.6 million seats, whereas more than 1.857 million candidates participated in this year's SSC and equivalent exams, leaving a substantial surplus of available seats.
