Over 10,500 HSC students to receive scholarships, board-wise breakdown
The government will award scholarships to 10,500 students based on this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examination results. Of them, 1,125 will receive merit scholarships while 9,375 will get general scholarships.
The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has directed all education boards to publish the list of selected students or the gazette by 4 December.
An order issued on Thursday (27 November) by DSHE allocated the scholarship quotas and set the deadline.
Scholarship rates
- Merit scholarship: Tk 825 per month + Tk 1,800 one-time annual grant
- General scholarship: Tk 375 per month + Tk 750 one-time annual grant
The expenditure will be met from the revenue budget of the current 2025-26 fiscal year under the head “1250201-108762-3821117” (scholarships and merit scholarships).
Board-wise distribution
- Dhaka Board: 465 merit + 3,032 general = 3,497
- Rajshahi Board: 179 merit + 1,255 general = 1,434
- Dinajpur Board: 110 merit + 952 general = 1,062
- Chattogram Board: 108 merit + 839 general = 947
- Jashore Board: 106 merit + 840 general = 946
- Mymensingh Board: 50 merit + 556 general = 606
- Cumilla Board: 49 merit + 740 general = 789
- Barishal Board: 30 merit + 600 general = 630
- Sylhet Board: 28 merit + 561 general = 589
Dhaka Board tops the list with the highest number of recipients, while Sylhet Board has the lowest.
