RU Admission Tests to Follow Short Syllabus

Rajshahi University (RU) will conduct its 2025–26 undergraduate (honors) first-year admission tests based on the short syllabus used in the HSC examinations. Multiple members of the university’s admission committee confirmed this to The Daily Campus on Thursday morning (October 30, 2025).

Business Studies Faculty Dean Prof Dr Abu Sadek Md Kamruzzaman stated, “The 2025–26 admission tests will follow the short syllabus adopted by the boards for the HSC exams. This is done every year.”

A notice issued on October 6 by Public Relations Administrator Prof Akhtar Hossain Majumdar announced that the tests will begin with the C Unit (Science). The schedule is as follows:

  • C Unit (Science): January 16
  • A Unit (Humanities): January 17
  • B Unit (Commerce): January 24

There will be no selection round this year. Tests will be held in two shifts: 11:00 AM–12:00 PM and 3:00 PM–4:00 PM. The examinations will take place at public university campuses in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, Rangpur, and Barishal.

Eligibility Criteria

  • For Humanities and Commerce streams: Minimum GPA of 3.00 in both SSC and HSC (including the 4th subject), with a combined total of at least 7.00.
  • For Science stream: Minimum GPA of 3.50 in both SSC and HSC, with a combined total of at least 8.00.
  • For Diploma-in-Engineering graduates: GPA calculated on a 5.00 scale.
  • For GCE O-Level and A-Level: Must pass at least 5 subjects in O-Level and 2 in A-Level; among the 7 subjects, at least 4 must have grade B and 3 must have grade C. Candidates wishing to take the exam in English must fill out an additional form during the final application. Unit-specific conditions also apply. All eligible applicants will be allowed to sit for the exam.

Application Fees (including 10% service charge):

  • A Unit (Humanities): Tk 1,320
  • B Unit (Commerce): Tk 1,100
  • C Unit (Science): Tk 1,320

Test Format The exam will be MCQ-based, worth 100 marks, and last one hour. Each unit will have 80 questions. Negative marking applies: 1 mark will be deducted for every 4 wrong answers. The passing mark is 40. Quota applicants (children of freedom fighters, ethnic minorities, persons with disabilities, athletes, and BKSP) must apply online following the provided guidelines.
