3 Key Decisions on Medical-Dental Admission Today
- ২৬ অক্টোবর ২০২৫, ১৪:০৫
The Health Ministry has convened a meeting today, Sunday (October 26), to finalise three critical aspects of admissions for the 2025-26 academic year in government and private medical and dental colleges. The session, under the Directorate of Health Education and Family Welfare, will address mark distribution, GPA relaxation, and seat reductions.
Joint Secretary (Medical Education) Mallika Khatun confirmed to The Daily Campus: "The meeting starts right after lunch. Important decisions are expected."
Sources from the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) and Health Education Directorate indicate discussions on exam mark allocation, application deadlines, fees, and seat numbers. The trio of priorities:
- GPA Requirement: Currently, candidates need a combined SSC-HSC GPA of 9.0. It may drop to 8.0 due to this year's lower HSC results.
- Seat Cuts: Up to 1,200 seats could be slashed from "non-viable and incompetent" colleges—600 each from government and private—to ensure quality.
- Mark Distribution: General knowledge will pair with a new "human qualities" section, prompting tweaks to scoring.
An anonymous Health Education official said: "Marking, GPA easing, and seat reductions will dominate. Other details like timelines and fees will also be settled. Students and parents must wait for outcomes."
The admission test is set for December 12 nationwide, with applications opening first week of November.
