Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has scrapped the preliminary MCQ screening for the 2025-26 undergraduate admission. Only the written exam will determine eligibility, though the oral test remains mandatory as before. Last year (2024-25), an MCQ-type preliminary test was held.
The decision was finalised at the Academic Council meeting on Saturday (October 25).
BUET Admission Test Organising Committee Chairman Prof Dr Abdul Jalil told The Daily Campus, “There will be no MCQ screening this time. Those who performed well in HSC are all eligible. This year’s results reflect true merit. That’s why we’re skipping the preliminary stage. The final written exam will be held directly.”
He announced the schedule:
- Admission test: January 10
- Applications open: November 16
- Application window: Over three weeks
- Admission circular: Expected in newspapers this week
