GPA-5 & A+ in Physics, Chemistry, Math mandatory for BUET admission test

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has set January 10 as the date for the 2025-26 undergraduate admission test, with a firm requirement of GPA-5 in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics separately in HSC to be eligible to sit for the exam.
Admission Test Organising Committee Chairman Prof Dr Abdul Jalil confirmed the decision, taken at a meeting on Saturday (October 25), to The Daily Campus. He emphasised that despite lower overall HSC pass rates this year, eligibility criteria remain unchanged — candidates must secure GPA-5 individually in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, in addition to the standard combined GPA requirement.
“This time the results reflect true merit. Those who are genuinely talented have earned GPA-5. There will be no relaxation in our standards,” Prof Jalil said.
Unlike previous years, the test will be conducted in a single phase with only a written exam, scrapping the preliminary MCQ round. Other procedures remain the same.
The date will be presented to the Academic Council for final approval. Earlier on October 18, Prof Jalil had indicated early January as the likely period, with the committee meeting to fix the schedule.
